Hi, I’m Daniel Tamayo. For 30 years I’ve worked as an English↔️Spanish conference interpreter and technical translator, and GlobalTradu is how I take on the work that needs more than one booth.
When a client needs a full language operation, we build and run it: interpreter teams, terminology preparation, RSI platforms, equipment and vendor coordination in Spanish, English, French, Portuguese and Russian.
Recent work includes five-language services and the Indigenous Peoples Pavilion at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi, and The Nature Hub at New York Climate Week.
We also translate on an ongoing basis for the same organizations we interpret for — reports, policy briefs, training materials, publications — so their terminology stays consistent across everything they produce.
Meet Daniel Tamayo
I’ve interpreted at every UN climate summit since Paris — COP21 in 2015 through COP30 in Belém. I’m in the booth year-round.
Beyond the climate summits, my work spans the biodiversity COPs and their intersessionals, New York and London Climate Weeks, multiple sessions of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues and EMRIP, the 2022 Summit of the Americas — where I interpreted for heads of state and cabinet ministers — and Inter-American Commission on Human Rights hearings at UCLA and Harvard. I’ve interpreted for UNDP, the World Bank, WIPO, FAO, IUCN, USAID, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the Government of France, WWF, Amnesty International, Conservation International, Tebtebba, IITC, COICA, Nia Tero and Cultural Survival.
I came to language services from economics and international management, so the technical content in these rooms isn’t foreign territory. My specializations are climate change and finance, Indigenous Peoples’ rights, economic development, human rights, migration and public health.
I’m also a trainer. I taught translation and interpreting at UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton, and Spanish at Cal Poly Pomona, and I regularly give keynotes and workshops for ATA and at T&I congresses in the US and abroad. A graduate of the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, I hold M.A. degrees in Translation Studies and in Hispanic Language and Civilization.
